“Join us on June 5th for steamy readings, cold drinks and lovely ladies performing burlesque for your titillation. In the old fashioned style of everyone’s favorite Dolly Parton flick, dress to the nines and get ready to be sauced and saucy.

All of the resident ‘whores’ are available for these sequestered readings at any time during the event. Of course, any good brothel need a furtive ‘front’ or cover; ours is part saloon and part salon, offering a full bar with music, burlesque dancing, fortune-tellers, and installations from our poets and other artists at each event. [In addition to the featured readers], each night we will also introduce several “New Girls”…[performers] who punctuate the evening with a few special public performances.”

Hence, the fact two “circumcized” versions of the podcast have been brought to my attention isn’t a shocker, by any means.

(In other words, the equivalent of lifting my track from a D.J. mix.

Remember that gorgeous independent film I’m in? You know, “Delphinium: A Childhood Portrait of Derek Jarman”?  The one I yammered about a while ago. Well, it’s screening at Sundance, and…yeah. As an Angeleno transplant, over the years I’ve acclimated to the freon-tinged climate shady people imbue this brightly-lit place.  To fair the “whether,” the most important reaction I could have is: act as if this news isn’t very important at all.

It’s a tricky thing, this More-Jaded-Than-The-Orient sense of feigned indifference—because if “reality” T.V. cameras are added to the equation?  Flip it. Be so real it’s Faux Real…and it will be: on film.

Semantics and human behavior are complicated.  But how I feel?  How I feel, for once, is pure and simple and precise. I’m so excited; I’m spinning around like tinsel on a majorette’s baton at half-time.

“Both are high-concept screenings utilizing the groundbreaking new Microvision handheld tapeless HD projector.   In three galleries over two afternoons, films will be projected onto ten-foot ice sculptures, giant ceiling installations, and onto the backs of nude art models, who will be simultaneously drawn.  We are thrilled to have been curated for such a unique program that, in addition to my film, includes new works by Floria Sigismondi, Sean Pecknold, Helene Cattet, Bruno Forzani, and Rodrigo Gudino.  There will be a panel on the 22nd with attending filmmakers.  Hope to see some of you there!”
