O.K., it’s no great secret that I’m a Jared Gold junkie. I mean, hell– the photo of me top and center of this page?
His phenomenal talent (every. single. layer — and believe me: there were many), his styling… even his hand print in tempera across my frickin’ face.
Sure, we’re friends–but truth be told, I met him first as a ‘fan.’
People who construct things of beauty with their hands astound me: painters, sculptors, photographers (lighting, concept, set or set-up: it’s more than just ‘pushing a button,’ contrary to what some people think) and yep…clothing designers, as well.
And if they’re designers of Mr. Gold’s caliber?
It’s more than just something I love so much, it borders on melting my corneas.
The extravagant creations he executes by fabric, the disparate concepts he marries via presentation:
the mind-bending, molar-splitting, sensory overload I experience?
That’s what I esteem to do with words.
Alright, enough of the gushing; I’ll be the first to admit I’m verbose.
Instead, let me introduce you all to the Threadbanger crew — crafty, cute as Sweet F.A.,.. and admirers of Mr. Gold themselves:

I’ve wanted to learn how to sew since I-Can’t -Even-Remember-When, but am so obsessed with accouterments, there’s an inherent fear I’d get nothing else done. I mean, I’m an Aries with A.D.D. who has three unfinished book projects as it is…
Throw another distraction my way, and I might very well become the most well-dressed homeless person in the city!
However, for those of you who do know how to sew?
If the site was fun for me to navigate, I can’t imagine how you couldn’t ‘get off’ on all the How-To videos, interviews with designers from burgeoning status to pro, and eagerness to interact with other crafty folks.
Not only that? They rock Janome machines.
I’ve heard rumors the company might release an edition that’s designed by The Almighty Mister Gold, and if that comes to fruition?
F-Bomb any notion of ‘restraint.’ I know myself well enough to know I’ll have no choice in the matter. There’s a consumerist microchip ensconced somewhere in the quagmire of my brain that takes over in such situations, demanding
MUST. PURCHASE. NOW.
Much to my chagrin, I’ve got the credit card bills to prove it.
